Fascism, Only Smarter

It's Not Fascism When We Do ItWhat is Neoconservatism? Fascism in disguise?

From Wikipedia:
Foreign Policy

In foreign policy some argue that neoconservatives have a tendency to view the world in 1939 terms, comparing the threat from adversaries as diverse as the Soviet Union, Osama bin Laden (and, more broadly, Islamofascism), and China to the threat then posed by Nazi Germany, while American leaders such as Reagan and Bush stand in for Winston Churchill. There is also a tendency to compare leftists, and others who oppose them to Neville Chamberlain, as appeasers and/or Anti-American. The fullest account of this is Donald and Frederick Kagan's While America Sleeps, the entirety of which is dedicated to these comparisons.
There's a lot in that little blurb about foreign policy, isn't there? The tendency to compare leftists and others who oppose them as appeasers and/or Anti-American. Many liberals have been called "unpatriotic" by the Bush Administration and the Republican Party Talking Points. Right now, in the aftermath of Katrina, the Republican National Committee is sending out it's hacks to the talk shows. They are to view images of the suffering in New Orleans as "hostile" to the Bush Administration. They are to bring up the "blame game," and how they're taking the high road and not engaging in it, but at the same time pointing at Louisiana governor Blanco and NOLA mayor Ray Nagin as being at fault. Of course the "swimming buses" picture is used over and over and over again.

How does Neoconservatism compare to Fascism in the United States?
The following is also from Wikipedia:

Some writers claim that the United States now meets some or all requirements for a Fascist state. Cases have been made both for and against this allegation on all sides of the political spectrum.

Cases made to support the contention that the US is currently Fascist or moving towards fascism include:

  • Reports such as the Bush Administration paying journalists to promote the policies of the Administration. This would lend credence to the allegation that Media is being controlled by the Administration. Also, self-censorship such as the sort practiced in open forums to prevent the spread of viewpoints that oppose the current administration may be considered evidence that the administration need not openly censor, but can rely on supporters to carry out the necessary censorship. (The Armstrong Williams incident)(The Balkans Website incident)
  • The widespread use of religion as a justification for many laws and policies (such as Faith Based Initiatives) and the blocking of certain legislation on religious grounds (such as gay marriage and stem cell research). Also the widespread use of religious rhetoric and symbolism in many speeches and appearances lend credibility to the allegation of religion being intertwined with Government.
  • Fraudulent Elections have been suspected in both of the last presidential elections. There is evidence such as the sworn testimony of Mr. Clint Curtis, and other widespread indications of deceptive election processes in Ohio and other locations, in addition to the conflicts of interest with Secretary of State of Ohio Mr. Blackwell also being the co-chair of the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in Ohio.

To counter the claim that the United States is becoming fascist, opponents point to the fact that George W. Bush won a majority of the popular and electoral votes in the 2004 U.S. presidential election. However it should be noted that the Electoral Votes are usually based on the popular vote counted from the election. It is further noted that the belief that the US is becoming fascist is fiercely disputed under any administration by all sides of the debate.

This movement is dangerous to the United States. The charectaristics are obvious:

In 1944, John T. Flynn made the case in "As We Go Marching," where he enumerated the stigmata of generic fascism, surveyed the interwar policies of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, and pointed to uncomfortably similar American policies.

For Flynn, the hallmarks of fascism were:
  • 1) unrestrained government;
  • 2) an absolute leader responsible to a single party;
  • 3) a planned economy with nominal private ownership of the means of production;
  • 4) bureaucracy and administrative "law";
  • 5) state control of the financial sector;
  • 6) permanent economic manipulation via deficit spending;
  • 7) militarism, and
  • 8) imperialism (pp. 161-62).
He proceeded to show that all these were alive and well under the wartime New Deal administration (pp. 166-258). Pragmatic American liberalism had produced "a genteel fascism" without the ethnic persecutions and full-scale executive dictatorship seen overseas." - Joseph R. Stromberg, Fascism: Déjà Vu All Over Again

Let's look at parts of the above listings and put them in 2005 terms:

#1 Unrestrained Government
The Bush Administration has been able to garner support for the Iraq War through complete deception (see The Truth is Being Revealed, number 8). Billions of dollars, untold amounts of money given to corporations in no-bid contracts (#s 3, 5, and 6 of the above list).

Hitler used this same tactic to support the expulsion of the Jews, by creating a belief that the German people were "under attack," and thereby paving the way for unrestrained militarism and imperialism.

#4 bureaucracy and administrative "law"

The creation of the Department of Homeland Security created the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States. That along with the Patriot Act, which has it's own similiarities to the Reichstag Fire Decree and the Enabling Act of the early days of the rise of Nazi Germany.

Why do so many not recognize what is happening? To their credit, the Neocons have been doing an excellent job of spinning, getting their supporters from the early days of the administration to watch "Fair and Balanced" FOX News, thereby creating a propoganda platform for themselves.

However...the truth is making people wary. They're waking up. Looking around. Seeing that all is not what it seems. Poll numbers for the president continue to slide. The Iraq war lies are showing themselves. The neocon's reaction to Hurricane Katrina, horrific as it was, is serving to unravel their carefully planned takeover of America. And now the time has come to take action. The people must stand up and be heard. Dissidence is patriotic. Always has been, always will be. Freedom is free, by it's very nature.

Impeach BushSo now is the time to take action. Bloggers can do so by visiting The Impeach Bush Coalition, of which The Truth Is Out There is a proud coalition member. It is time to Impeach Bush. Together, we can bring the truth to millions. The American people can handle this, it is in our very nature to survive, and it is in our very nature to have the desire to be free, and stay that way. All we need to do is focus on what we do want. Bush is the contrast. Impeachment is an inspired action, and the intention to have Bush removed from office through impeachment grows day by day. Show your support today. Sign the petition. Join the coalition. Tell everyone you know. Let The Truth shine!

On A Lighter Note...

I was just reading my roommate's blog, "Free To Be Me", and have to recommend a visit to her post about our cat, Pumpkin, and the Angel's Wish Coalition. If you're in Wisconsin, I recommend it for getting (saving!) a pet.

I'd also like to take a quick moment to say to all of those who think "we liberals" just bitch and moan about the fed's response to Katrina, and say we should get out and do something...

Well, I've donated to the American Red Cross, to an organization attempting to save the pets, and am buying supplies this weekend for a co-worker to take with on her mission to help pets beginning in Hattiesburg, MS. Unfortunately, I still have to work for a living, so going down there is not an option at the moment. Click on some Google Ads so I can go. And I'll still say: Bush MUST be impeached. Ooops...this is supposed to be on a lighter note...

I love Pumpkin. And I'm thankful for Angel's Wish.

Eight Big Lies about Katrina

Alternet has a fantastic article about 8 lies surrounding the response to Hurricane Katrina. You really should take the time to read this:

Eight Big Lies About Katrina

In addition...if you blog and feel the same way as we do, that Bush should be impeached, then be sure to drop on over to the Impeach Bush Coalition blog. Sign up. Join in. This is not just us "whacko Left Wing Moonbats", it's really those of us that seek the truth and are not going to sit idly by and let the government lie to us--over and over--and then defend a president who couldn't defend us.

Speaking of "moonbats", I ran across an interesting comment and reply to my comment in The Martian Anthropologists blog--so I did visit his blog. And he calls Cindy Sheehan a "Ditch Witch." (now isn't that fantastic Christian compassion at work?) He should read the news. Yesterday, Cindy Sheehan and the Gold Star Families for Peace raised $200,000.00 in ONE HOUR for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, as was discussed on the Randi Rhodes show last evening.

And the lies march on...

...but the truth is marching as well...

The Truth Is Revealing Itself

The Truth Is Revealing Itself

  1. We knew this already (those of us that don’t rely on Drudge or FOXNews for all of our information), but now MSNBC has a story stating that FEMA “leaders” lack experience completely (Suffers “Brain Drain” Since 2001).
  2. Meanwhile, FEMA employees are beginning to blame Bush for the bureaucracy. Maybe Bush won’t be able to scapegoat on FEMA after all… FEMA Union Speaks Out
  3. President Bush continues to act opportunistically: the “fill my pockets with bucks, but don’t let any of them stop here” president has allowed contractors such as Halliburton to pay below the prevailing wage.
  4. Tom Delay’s Political Action Committee Indicted: No charges against the man himself, but I can’t imagine he’s going to be able to hide all that much longer. Seems that Right Wing World is unraveling at the seams.
  5. Newsweek asks “Did the Bush Administration have the wrong priorities?” in the run up to Hurricane Katrina. Seems like the DHS focused on terrorism and ignored warnings about natural disasters. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say: “Ya think?”
  6. And as The Truth continues to flow through the American Experience and awaken people to what’s really going on, Cheney got a dose of his own medicine in Gulfport, MS yesterday. Rock on.
  7. And is this proof that race played a role? The elite of New Orleans hint at a “whiter New Orleans” when it’s rebuilt. They don’t want the poor back. Isn’t it wonderful to see all the love in the air? Starts to make me think: Was God punishing the sinners in New Orleans, or was He saying “Yo! Wake up and smell your hypocrisy!”?
  8. Colin Powell: “I never saw evidence to suggest” that there was a clear connection between 9/11 and regime of Saddam Hussein. Are you paying attention, Michelle Malkin? If I recall correctly, she stated on “Hardball” several weeks ago that there “absolutely was” a connection. So much for the talking points.
  9. America is waking up. They believe that the Iraq War Is Going Worse Than Expected. The truth will always prevail.
  10. The Martian Anthropologist writes that it is time to Impeach Bush. And I can’t agree more. So read his entry on the Impeach Bush Rally of September 24th, and read this entry from The Bulldog Manifesto: Impeach George W. Bush – A call to All Blogs and Activists! (Note: You get to see Bush flipping off the camera when you visit the Bulldog site. You were warned)

On a lighter note, I’m from Wisconsin, and we’re leaving.

FEMA Fumbles Again: Right City, Wrong State

Well, I'm thankful for CNN covering the stories of the FEMA F--- Ups. Apparently, they flew evacuees to the right city, Charleston, but in the wrong state! 400 miles off. Apparently the people at FEMA are FUMAr some pretty special grass.

I'm saying it right now--not just because of the above story, but because of the beginning of the response (or lack thereof), Michael Brown must resign FEMA immediately (or be fired) (UPDATE: 09/12/2005: Done! Click for more info). Michael Chertoff must resign his post as Director of Homeland Security, and General Myers should retire immediately.

So the president is going to investigate himself? This ought to be interesting...

I've got to sleep sometime soon--so more tomorrow. Thanks for reading, thanks for dropping by, and join in the fight! (Impeach Bush)

And The Lies Continue (Update 1)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9179790/

MR. BROUSSARD: Sir, they were told like me, every single day, "The cavalry's coming," on a federal level, "The cavalry's coming, the cavalry's coming, the cavalry's coming." I have just begun to hear the hoofs of the cavalry. The cavalry's still not here yet, but I've begun to hear the hoofs, and we're almost a week out.

Let me give you just three quick examples. We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water, trailer trucks of water. FEMA turned them back. They said we didn't need them. This was a week ago. FEMA--we had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard vessel docked in my parish. The Coast Guard said, "Come get the fuel right away." When we got there with our trucks, they got a word. "FEMA says don't give you the fuel." Yesterday--yesterday--FEMA comes in and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards on our line and says, "No one is getting near these lines." Sheriff Harry Lee said that if America--American government would have responded like Wal-Mart has responded, we wouldn't be in this crisis.
But I want to thank Governor Blanco for all she's done and all her leadership. She sent in the National Guard. I just repaired a breach on my side of the 17th Street canal that the secretary didn't foresee, a 300-foot breach. I just completed it yesterday with convoys of National Guard and local parish workers and levee board people. It took us two and a half days working 24/7. I just closed it.

MR. RUSSERT: All right.

MR. BROUSSARD: I'm telling you most importantly I want to thank my public employees...

MR. RUSSERT: All right.

MR. BROUSSARD: ...that have worked 24/7. They're burned out, the doctors, the nurses. And I want to give you one last story and I'll shut up and let you tell me whatever you want to tell me. The guy who runs this building I'm in, emergency management, he's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said, "Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?" And he said, "Yeah, Mama, somebody's coming to get you. Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday." And she drowned Friday night. She drowned Friday night.

MR. RUSSERT: Mr. President...

MR. BROUSSARD: Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The secretary has promised. Everybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For God sakes, shut up and send us somebody.

MR. RUSSERT: Just take a pause, Mr. President. While you gather yourself in your very emotional times, I understand, let me go to Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi.

(Emphasis Mine)

The government (Bush Administration) ignored their own National Response Plan in this disaster. Read this fantastic blog entry for more on the breakdown of the NRP and how this Administration should be, must be, held criminally accountable for their actions.

And The Lies Continue

On CNN.com, there's an article in which Michael Chertoff, Homeland Security Secretary, in speaking about , argues that government planners did not predict such a disaster would ever occur. From the article:

Last week, Michael Brown, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told CNN his agency had recently planned for a Category 5 hurricane hitting New Orleans.

Speaking to "Larry King Live" on August 31, in the wake of Katrina, Brown said, "That Category 4 hurricane caused the same kind of damage that we anticipated. So we planned for it two years ago. Last year, we exercised it. And unfortunately this year, we're implementing it."

According to the National Hurricane Center, beginning Friday the 26th of August, statements were made that could be a Category 4 hurricane by the time it made it's second landfall. There prediction was "right on." So was Chertoff on vacation too? If the Department of Homeland Security doesn't know about a predicted disaster, or that one of it's sub-agencies (, which used to be a standalone agency) had planned for such a disaster (a scientific "war game" involving 40 agencies from different states, and scientists, with a fictional "Hurricane Pam" and what it would do to ), how can we trust that the agency is prepared for another terrorist attack?

Why lie? Why so obvious?

I suppose FOX News will carry the story like it's a biblical truth, and many will believe him. "We didn't know..." is a worthless, piece of crap excuse. This is just the begin of the spin. Next they'll make it look like it's the fault of New Orlean's Mayor C Ray Nagin, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, and other city planners.

The fury over 's response to Katrina is creating another Gulf War, a sampling of the article essentially says what I feel is going to happen...the Political Storm is only going to get worse for the :

...there are signs that Bush's political capital is getting soggy. Former GOP House speaker Newt Gingrich sharply questioned the last four years of emergency planning. John Breaux, the former Democratic Louisiana senator and close Bush ally, rejected the president's claim that nobody anticipated the failure of the city's levees, saying he talked to Bush about it last year.
There will be more on this later...

Stay tuned, and join in the conversation...

The Battle of New Orleans Part I

The Battle of New Orleans Part I

The Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the Colossal Failure of FEMA, Homeland Security, and the Bush Administration

A disaster of epic proportions has been followed by a failure of epic ineptitude by this nation. I’ve been seething with anger ever since the hurricane struck, and water levels began to rise in New Orleans. Anger at the silence from the White House, anger at the lack of response of this government to it’s worst national disaster, and anger at the realization that The Department of Homeland Security is not making American safer, and certainly cannot be trusted to be able to adequately respond (or respond at all?) to a serious attack on American soil.

I’ve been noticing how the Mainstream Media has been touting the fact that Bush “cut short his vacation by two days…” to respond to the aftermath of Katrina. Poor guy, had to leave his month-long vacation a couple of days early because an entire city of 500,000 plus people has been rendered uninhabitable in our own country. Why didn’t he cut it off on Monday? Or even Tuesday morning when Brian Williams of NBC first announced a “serious development” on the Today Show as it was noticed that the waters in New Orleans were suddenly beginning to rise, signifying that a levy had failed? Why was he out golfing, lifting up the Medicare Drug plan, and cutting cake for John McCain when the nation’s worst natural disaster was unfolding, just as the scientists and FEMA had been predicting for years? I guess the answer to those questions would be the same as to this:

On September 11th, 2001: Why did Bush go to the classroom anyway after the first tower had been hit? And why, oh why, did he sit there for 7 minutes after Chief of Staff Andrew Card informed him “we are under attack”?

I almost believed the story that he didn’t want to startle the children in that classroom. Now I can only come to the conclusion that this president is incapable of compassion on a level that is needed by the “leader of the free world.” Incapable. Or uncaring. Or on purpose. Not a single sane person that is not brainwashed by FOX News or can’t see past one issue that concerns them can come to any other conclusion than one of those…or have an even more sinister belief of why he did the things he did (or should we say didn’t do?).

More to come on this disaster, the failure of the Bush Administration, and what the terrorists have learned from our nation’s failure…

Please help the people of New Orleans and all areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Visit the Red Cross today (http://www.redcross.org/) or call 1-800-HELP-NOW. And don’t forget the ineptitude. It’s time for us to stand up and say “enough is enough.” Don’t let him get away with this again…or we’ll just face more death and destruction right here in America. And sell your SUV. Because if you can afford gas for it right now, you might as well help support us working-class folk. ;-)

The Spiritual Democracy Project

The Spiritual Democracy Project

The Spiritual Democracy Project began as a concept in November, 2004. I had been studying the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, and learning about the Power of Intentions along with doing quite a bit of personal development work with Teresa Romain. When I discovered the Powerful Intentions Community, my concept began to grow into a desire. This desire was, admittedly, just a concept with a title. I had no idea where it would lead (and still don’t), but knew that it was something I “had to” create.

I came up with the name just lost in contemplation one day. Later, when doing searches on Google, I learned that “Spiritual Democracy” was actually a book by Frederick Kettner—“Biosophy and Spiritual Democracy—A Basis For World Peace” published in 1954. After reading some excerpts from this book, I discovered that my ideas are very similar, more expanded in some ways, and still expanding in others. Essentially, the creation of Spiritual Democracy and the formation of The Spiritual Democracy Project (someday to be a non-profit organization) is a co-creative effort. I began the forum and the blog. Through the input of my friends at Powerful Intentions, and many visitors, the Spiritual Democracy Project will unfold.

I know that my work will never be done. It’s not supposed to be, as eternal beings, we can never get it all done. This idea may be ahead of it’s time, but as The Secret is revealed to the masses, together we will begin creating the conditions we desire in our respective nations, leading eventually to world peace. It’s inevitable, and I’m convinced that it will be so. It is my intention. And that is a done deal, and sticks, no matter what.

Join me in this project. You’ll know deep inside what resonates with you, and your opinions shall be welcomed. Together, we’re making the world a better place. Together, we’re creating the world we desire. Together, we can do anything. Anything.

Halliburton gets Katrina contract

Halliburton gets Katrina contract, hires former FEMA director
1 Sept. 2005
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (HalliburtonWatch.org) -- The US Navy asked Halliburton to repair naval facilities damaged by Hurricane Katrina, the Houston Chronicle reported today. The work was assigned to Halliburton's KBR subsidiary under the Navy's $500 million CONCAP contract awarded to KBR in 2001 and renewed in 2004. The repairs will take place in Louisiana and Mississippi.KBR has not been asked to repair the levees destroyed in New Orleans which became the primary cause of most of the damage. Since 1989, governments worldwide have awarded $3 billion in contracts to KBR's Government and Infrastructure Division to clean up damage caused by natural and man-made disasters. Earlier this year, the Navy awarded $350 million in contracts to KBR and three other companies to repair naval facilities in northwest Florida damaged by Hurricane Ivan, which struck in September 2004. The ongoing repair work involves aircraft support facilities, medium industrial buildings, marine construction, mechanical and electrical improvements, civil construction, and family housing renovation. In March, the former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is tasked with responding to hurricane disasters, became a lobbyist for KBR. Joe Allbaugh was director of FEMA during the first two years of the Bush administration. Today, FEMA is widely criticized for its slow response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Allbaugh managed Bush's campaign for Texas governor in 1994, served as Gov. Bush's chief of staff and was the national campaign manager for the Bush campaign in 2000. Along with Karen Hughes and Karl Rove, Allbaugh was one of Bush's closest advisers. "This is a perfect example of someone cashing in on a cozy political relationship," said Scott Amey, general counsel at the Project on Government Oversight, a Washington watchdog group. "Allbaugh's former placement as a senior government official and his new lobbying position with KBR strengthens the company's already tight ties to the administration, and I hope that contractor accountability is not lost as a result."

Bush Approval Ratings Fall Again

Bush’s Approval Rating Continues to Slide

I believe in God. I believe in the perfection of the Law of Attraction.

For many, many months, I’ve been contemplating what’s really going on with how I feel about the Bush Administration and the horrific directions it’s taken the United States in the past 4 years. I never understood how his approval ratings—especially on his handling of the situation in Iraq—could be so high. I did not understand how so many people could have chosen to actually provide him with 4 more years in office. It created confusion and anger in my life. I was absolutely voracious towards other’s opinions if they differed from my own. And my anger began bringing things I did not “want” into my life…the Law of Attraction at work.

Suddenly I decided I needed to take a different approach for my own sake. I decided that despite what other’s thought, I would focus only on what I do want in my life. I want freedom. I want a fantastic economy. I want peace. I want people to realize what’s being done to our freedom, our environment, and our bank accounts, and to start reacting in whatever way they see fit that would bring about change. This approach seems to be working for me…

Cindy Sheehan began her protest outside of Bush’s ranch while he was on vacation (again). Gas prices soared. People began to become irritated—not just with the Bush Administration’s handling of the war in Iraq, but their handling (or mishandling) of the economy. Their disrespect for the environment, and their absolute hypocrisy when it comes to the so-called “Culture of Life”. Bush’s approval ratings began to fall. And fall. And fall. And they continue to fall—even with the mainstream media (Liberal Media? Yeah, right!) lack of focus on the Iraq disaster, the economy, the environment, and especially “Treasongate.”

Several different polls now show the lowest approval for the President’s handling of (everything). Some are at 45% approval, some at 40%, and one was at an amazing 36%. And these are overall approvals. When we get to specifics, such as the handling of the war in Iraq and the war on terror, and whether or not we feel safer…the numbers are even worse for the Bush Administration. People are awakening. As a democracy, our country is not perfect. We can be fooled. We can believe lies, especially when their presented in such a way that we the people feel we’re under attack. But, it simply cannot be sustained. As the truth pours out, it starts to ignite the fires of opposition. The truth begins to spread. It permeates everything, just like light in a dark room…or water in New Orleans (I know…bad analogy…sorry). Stories may come along to distract us—but we’re beyond the point of no return for the Bush Administration. We’ve reached that tipping point, a line in the sand (yes, another bad analogy), a point where  the people will stand up and say…

“We’re taking back our country now. Thank you very much.”

And in 2006, barring any major lies or spinning by this Administration, we will watch the collapse of the Far Right as we watch the election returns come in. And in 2008 (if not sooner, since I believe Bush will be forced to resign before then), the Republican Rule—the neo-con, bordering on Fascist State rule—will end. For many, many years. There is a light…the truth…and it shall set us free.

Bush Slashed Hurricane Funding for New Orleans

Bush Slashed Hurricane Funding for New Orleans

Yesterday, President Bush said “I want to thank all the folks at the federal level and the state level and the local level who have taken this storm seriously.” He’s not one of them. Bush has sought to slash funds that would help New Orleans prepare for a major hurricane.

From the 6/6/05 New Orleans CityBusiness:

In fiscal year 2006, the New Orleans district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is bracing for a record $71.2 million reduction in federal funding…The cuts mean major hurricane and flood protection projects will not be awarded to local engineering firms. Also, a study to determine ways to protect the region from a Category 5 hurricane has been shelved for now.
Landrieu said the Bush administration is not making Corps of Engineers funding a priority. “I think it’s extremely shortsighted,” Landrieu said. “When the Corps of Engineers’ budget is cut, Louisiana bleeds. These projects are literally life-and-death projects to the people of south Louisiana.”

Updated information on the Stoughton Tornado

Updated information on the Stoughton Tornado.

You can read the original post here.

View pictures of the damage and help us support the victims by clicking here.

These are the final stats from the National Weather Service on the tornado itself:

TORNADO ONE...
BEGINNING TIME     615 PM                PATH LENGTH  20.0 MILES
ENDING TIME        708 PM                MAX WIDTH    1/2 MILE
   DURATION           53 MINUTES            DEATHS       1
   BEGINNING LOCATION 2.0 N OREGON          INJURIES     21
   ENDING LOCATION    2.2 N BUSSEYVILLE     F-SCALE      F3
                         /JEFFERSON CO./

If this tornado had been 5 miles due north at it’s starting point, it would have passed directly over where I live.

Anything in this sound just a tad familiar to you?

From an interview with Herman Goring, an early member of the Nazi party, founder of the Gestapo, and one of the main perpetrators of Nazi Germany:Goring: "Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."Gilbert: "There is one difference. In a democracy, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars."Goring: "Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

Expanding the DOD’s TRICARE Program—A Good Thing

Expanding the DOD’s TRICARE Program—A Good Thing

Hillary Clinton (D-New York) and Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) have joined forces to expand the Department of Defense’s TRICARE health insurance program for the National Guard and Reserves. Their proposals for the five year expansion are being included (and hopefully not cut) from the budget for the Defense Department.

MSNBC.com has the “Hillary-Care” story.

This is a development that does effect me personally. Not because I’m a Guardsman or Reservist, and I’m not retired military (although I did serve in the Navy in 1992). It’s because my current job is being employed by one of the fiscal intermediaries for the TRICARE program. I work for WPS Health Insurance here in Madison, WI. I work on the TRICARE contract, currently working with retired military who are eligible for Medicare in the TRICARE for Life program. TRICARE does make a difference for those who have served this nation, many for very long periods of time—and even their entire careers.

To me, this goes right back to showing support for our troops. Little trinkets like yellow stick-on magnet ribbons for the car are (to me) half-hearted adventures in trying to prove one’s self as a patriot or supporter of our troops. True support comes from sending love, sending letters, keeping our leaders accountable for the “noble causes” we’re sending our children to die for—and making sure that we’re taking care of these brave men and women when they return home.

Thank you to Senators Clinton and Graham (wow, those names together in a sentence!) for proposing to take better care of those that give the greatest sacrifices for this nation. Now I ask that we continue to hold the government accountable—it’s time to begin the investigations into why we’re setting up an Islamic Republic in Iraq, where women’s rights (just as one example) will actually take a several decades step backwards under the proposed constitution, and having less rights then they did under Saddam Hussein’s regime.

But back to TRICARE—it does make a difference. No matter the cost, it’s something—one thing—that we all can do by paying taxes—to show we still care.

Cindy Sheehan would weaken US

Bush says Cindy Sheehan would weaken U. S., but she’s only weakening him

In a seemingly typical reaction from the White House, it appears that any differing view from the administration’s is “wrong.” Of course, there are hints, once again, that if you do not support the Iraq war, you’re “with the terrorists,” or not a “patriot.” It is truly beginning to appear that the Fascist State is trying to tighten it’s grip. However, despite president Bush saying Anti-war protesters would weaken the United States, it really does appear that the anti-war movement is only weakening president Bush. It appears his support has eroded so much that he is closer to having a lower approval rating than Richard Nixon. His approval rating when it comes to the handling of Iraq is down to a paltry 34%.

In my view, Iraq is spiraling into a civil war. As soon as the last U.S. boot leaves the ground in Iraq, it’s obvious to me and anyone with a real sense of what is the truth, civil war will begin (if not beforehand). The Iraqi Constitution seems to be an exercise in fantasy for the U.S., and will most likely ending up being a Theocracy like Iran, and I’m not so sure creating another Iran-like government in Iraq will turn out to be a benefit to the U.S. war on terror, or long-term stability in the Middle East.

So who’s weakening who, Mr. President?

The Path To Spiritual Democracy Begins With The Children

SPIRITUALITY FOR KIDS MAKES HISTORY
From Spirituality For Kids
Israeli and Palestinian Children Come Together for PeaceTel Aviv, Israel- History was made and agendas put aside as 230 children (110 Palestinians and 120 Israelis) gathered at Ramat-Gan Safari in the Middle East for the “Kids Creating Peace” Summer Camp in the last week of July, 2005. Together with The Kabbalah Centre Israel, and the Palestinian Abu Assukar Centre for peace and Dialogue, The Spirituality for Kids camp provided the tools that allowed children to learn the value in one another, and throw out centuries of passed down hate. Founded by Karen Berg with the mission to stop chaos in the world through the teaching of the universal spiritual principles of Sharing, Caring, Tolerance, Human Dignity and Proactive Behavior, the “Kids Creating Peace” Summer Camp brought this to light. Spirituality for Kids (SFK) not only lifted the cloud of darkness that political leaders, activists and organizations have tried to remove in countless ways, it replaced it with a rainbow. As an Israeli camper put it, “Just like when you have clouds, rain, and sun all together you get a rainbow, when you put Israelis, Palestinians, and other people together, you get peace.” Just days prior to his attending the camp, this same camper wanted absolutely nothing to do with the Palestinian children. At a time of renewed peace efforts, when all eyes are on the Middle East, Spirituality for Kids created not only an environment and blue-print for change, but set change into motion. Children are the building blocks of our world, and through this four day camp, which was more than just pony rides and lake swims, a place was created where children learned and practiced the universal spiritual laws. Children were taught how to receive by sharing and how to win by overcoming their internal opponent. The impact of Arab and Jewish children learning to share with one another is incalculable. The education of these children with the tools of SFK has changed the course of history in the Middle East , forever. That which was once unimaginable has become reality. As John Lennon imagined peace and Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of unity, Karen Berg envisioned this moment in time. For generations, we have imagined “all the people” and rallied to “have a dream;” now, we have a vision: “One day an Arab mother will feel for a Jewish child and a Jewish mother will feel for an Arab Child,” - Karen Berg, Founder of SFK Among the zebras, rhinos and hippos living in harmony, 230 Israeli and Palestinian children gathered to learn, share, have fun and change the world. As Aseel, a 12 year-old from Jerusalem said: “Before I came to this summer camp, I used to think that all Jewish people were bad, but after I experienced the reality, my view has changed. I saw people who took me in as if I was at home, I saw smiling, sharing and caring people who have changed my thoughts completely. I also made new friends and had fun!” A child's view of life can change in a moment. In that same moment, with the eyes of the world watching, and with our future generations learning how to respect all people, we are showing Presidents, Prime Ministers and World Leaders that a cloud of darkness can become a rainbow right before their eyes. Spirituality for Kids will continue to make history. We welcome your support. http://www.spiritualityforkids.com/updates/08_22_05/history.html

The Sky Just Exploded

I intended to make this entry on the 20th, but it just wasn't meant to be. So here it is...

Record One Day Outbreak of Tornadoes in Wisconsin

August 18th, 2005

'The Sky Just Exploded'. Click here to visit the photo album and contribute

6:15 PM. Dane County, Wisconsin, 2 miles north of Oregon, approx. 5 miles south of the city of Madison

Tornadoes in Wisconsin are not common. Especially powerful tornadoes. Usually, Wisconsin experiences 21 tornadoes any given year, with the majority of tornadic activity occurring between April 1st and June 30th.

The Stoughton Tornado descended from a still small but extremely powerful thunderstorm over the far southern part of the city of Madison. Dane County had already had the sirens sound once about 30 minutes earlier for a tornado warning. A second wave of sirens began as the warning was extended. I was at work, about 12 miles due north of the unfolding disaster, sitting in a sweltering stairwell, completely unaware of what was about to happen. I would be there for another 60 minutes since our company would not allow anyone to leave the building.

The tornado began it's steady growth and march towards areas just north (and partially in) the city of Stoughton, a beautiful historic city sitting about 10 miles south-southeast of Madison. At it's height of power over the next 40 minutes, it reached an estimated width of 1/2 mile wide with winds at or exceeding 200 miles per hour. It would be rated an F-3 on the Fujita Scale, a way to measure intensity of tornado-produced damage. This strong of a tornado is extremely rare in Wisconsin. The last similar-strength tornado was nearly 10 years ago, and it was just shy of the strength of the F-5 tornado that leveled the city of Barneveld, WI on June 8, 1984.

The path of destruction was 17 miles in length (also very rare for a tornado in Wisconsin to be on the ground for that long)...through farmland, a Country Club, and a large subdivision (pictured below) that was "wiped clean."

Dane County, the Disaster Area

Dane County was declared to be in a State of Emergency after the tornado's devastation was becoming evident. The next day, it was declared a county and state disaster area, and the petition should be arriving at the President's desk soon to have Dane County be declared a Federal Disaster Area, unlocking funds and assistance from FEMA. Here are some of the "stats" and how you can help.

Record Tornado Outbreak

  • 28 tornadoes across the state of Wisconsin.

  • 17 tornadoes in the Milwaukee/Sullivan County Warning Area

  • 1 tornado, "The Sky Just Exploded" tornado, in my home county of Dane.

  • This tornado was the strongest and longest lived, causing the most damage

  • One Stoughton man was killed next to his wife in his basement as the home's chimney was crushed by the tornado and collapsed on him

  • At least 18 injuries (confirmed, upwards of 60 reported) in the Stoughton area

  • 18 homes completely destroyed.

  • 59 homes with damage severe enough to not allow families to return until repairs are made

  • Another 90 (maybe more) homes and structures damaged

  • "Thousands of trees" sheered off or uprooted

  • Extensive crop (mainly corn) damage

  • Debris found 60 miles away in the City of Milwaukee

I have decided to help the people of Stoughton and Dane County in any way I can. The tornado was so close to being directly over my apartment, that I initially felt guilt, then relief, then guilt (again) because I love storms. However, I've turned from that to an outpouring of love. Many families lost every possession, and need food, clothing (and school starts in just a couple of weeks!), and shelter. Wisconsin and the Red Cross have taken care of most of the housing. Hundreds of volunteers are assisting families in going through what belongings are left. So many volunteers (talk about a wonderful feeling!) that many had to be turned away. Tetanus shots are given to every volunteer because of the nature of the destruction.

They are in need of food and clothing. So, with what I can personally donate, and I am asking the community here at Powerful Intentions to open their hearts and minds to assisting me in getting needed items to these families. By visiting the Sky Just Exploded Photo Album you can make a donation through PayPal. With this donation going into my PayPal account, I can put it to use immediately (I have a PayPal debit card) by purchasing gift cards for Wal-Mart, other department stores, and Stoughton area grocery stores to donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and St. Vincent De Paul who will distribute them to the families most in need. All 100% of my PayPal account is now dedicated to this relief effort. All other sales/business items I used that account for have ceased until this is completed.

I ask to you to contribute your love, light, and financial energy. My intention is to raise "as much as possible" (well over $1,000) to be able to donate on behalf of the Powerful Intentions Community through $100 gift cards to department stores and food stores. Much more is needed. Many people will not have homes again for months.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for your time. And thank you for being a vibrational match to my desire.

You Can Understand Fully

I decided to post today's "Abraham Quote" because I find it SO powerful, and SO important for us to "understand," and to go forth in JOY!

"There is nothing that you're wanting to know that you do not have the capacity to understand fully. And there is nothing that you're wanting to know that the Universe does not already know that you want to know, and has already begun the process of answering. And so, go forth in excited anticipation that the new ideas will continue to bubble forth, and that the Universal Forces will continue to come forth in loving, benevolent, eternal answering to that which you are about. There is great love here for you. We are complete."

Terri Schiavo

You know, I was really thinking I would avoid this subject altogether. Until I noticed that CNN (the only news channel I really see anymore, blaring away in the lobby at work) keeps throwing the case in my face. And people around my place of business are starting to talk about it, with varying opinions (most of which I disagree with). And now it's getting on my nerves. And that's a "don't want."

So here's what I have to say about the Schiavo case:

I believe that Terri did in fact express her wishes to her husband. I've seen it happen a lot. We see a news story, turn to our friend, family member, or partner and say "If that ever happens to me, I don't want to be kept alive (artificially)." And so it is. A wish expressed, an opinion disseminated. If the wish was strong enough, stated well enough, before the mass consciousness of Power of Health Care Attorney and Living Will forms came along (a lot of it as a result of this case); many didn't know that there were ways to memorialize their wishes. I believe this to be the case with the Schiavos. Therefore, the feeding tube should've been removed. I would've went one step further (note to self for my living will), and stated "If I should become in a vegitative state, and only a feeding tube could sustain me, the feeding tube is to be removed, and to aleviate pain, I am to be placed on a morphine drip, realizing that may hasten the moment of my death."

My heart does go out to the family. This has got to be hard for them. But the arguing, bickering, and ESPECIALLY getting the Federal Government involved in a State's Rights case (which REALLY bakes my noodle) is not serving the family, and certainly not serving Terri Schiavo. Terri will ultimately choose whether she lives or dies. I beleive this because I beleive we create our entire reality. We have the choice. If she chooses to live, a court will say "reinsert." If she chooses what may be the crack of least resistance, the tube will not be reinserted, and she will pass peacefully.

The ramifications on the political side of this matter will not be known for some time. But the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch overstepped (once again, should be getting used to it now) their Constitutional Bounds, and reached into, and violated, the rights of the State of Florida and the rights of The Schiavo/Schindler family. It IS as simple as that. What will be next?

To prevent the "what next," I hope every American, regardless of age or state of health, gets moving and gets a Living Will/Healthcare Power of Attorney paperwork done NOW. Or you or I may be the next one the U.S. Congress tries to "save," to look good to their far right constituents. Enough is enough. Tom DeLay: I don't want or need your "help."

And that's my opinion.

The Truth is Out There, but what is "The Truth"?

What is truth? I like this section of the definition best: A statement proven to be or accepted as true. And therein lies the key..."or accepted." For the truth to be true, it doesn't necessarily have to be proven to be so...just so long as it is accepted. So my question is this:

What do you accept as truth that isn't actually true for others?

I've learned that this acceptance of something as true can lead to patterns of scarcity. This can prevent our Journey of Abundance. If you have limiting beliefs (i.e. Truths) that you don't have enough money, aren't good enough, etc., then I encourage you to take a look at the free (and not so free) resources made available by Teresa Romain on her website, Access Abundance.

On Saturday, April 2nd, I'll be attending a 4 hour seminar hosted by Teresa here in Madison, WI. If you'll be in the area, contact me for details. It's a deal, and I think she's charging way too little (but would that be a scarcity pattern judgment on my part? Show up and find out). I'd pay much, much more...but I won't because that's not what she's charging.

Tallyho,

Ron Paul: What Does Freedom Really Mean?

Ron Paul's "Texas Straight Talk"

WHAT DOES FREEDOM REALLY MEAN?
February 7, 2005

".man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts."

Ronald Reagan

We've all heard the words "democracy" and "freedom" used countless times, especially in the context of our invasion of Iraq. They are used interchangeably in modern political discourse, yet their true meanings are very different.

George Orwell wrote about "meaningless words" that are endlessly repeated in the political arena*. Words like "freedom," "democracy," and "justice," Orwell explained, have been abused so long that their original meanings have been eviscerated.

In Orwell's view, political words were
"Often used in a consciously dishonest way."

Without precise meanings behind words, politicians and elites can obscure reality and condition people to reflexively associate certain words with positive or negative perceptions. In other words, unpleasant facts can be hidden behind purposely meaningless language.

As a result, Americans have been conditioned to accept the word "democracy" as a synonym for freedom, and thus to believe that democracy is unquestionably good. The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is simply majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with real freedom.

Our founding fathers clearly understood this, as evidenced not only by our republican constitutional system, but also by their writings in the "Federalist Papers" and elsewhere. James Madison cautioned that under a democratic government, "There is nothing to check the inducement to sacrifice the weaker party or the obnoxious individual." John Adams argued that democracies merely grant revocable rights to citizens depending on the whims of the masses, while a republic exists to secure and protect pre-existing rights.

Yet how many Americans know that the word "democracy" is found neither in the Constitution nor the Declaration of Independence, our very founding documents?

A truly democratic election in Iraq, without U.S. interference and U.S.
puppet candidates, almost certainly would result in the creation of a Shiite theocracy. Shiite majority rule in Iraq might well mean the complete political, economic, and social subjugation of the minority Kurd and Sunni Arab populations. Such an outcome would be democratic, but would it be free?

Would the Kurds and Sunnis consider themselves free?
The administration talks about democracy in Iraq, but is it prepared to accept a democratically-elected Iraqi government no matter what its attitude toward the U.S. occupation? Hardly. For all our talk about freedom and democracy, the truth is we have no idea whether Iraqis will be free in the future. They're certainly not free while a foreign army occupies their country. The real test is not whether Iraq adopts a democratic, pro-western government, but rather whether ordinary Iraqis can lead their personal, religious, social, and business lives without interference from government.

Simply put, freedom is the absence of government coercion. Our Founding Fathers understood this, and created the least coercive government in the history of the world. The Constitution established a very limited, decentralized government to provide national defense and little else.

States, not the federal government, were charged with protecting individuals against criminal force and fraud. For the first time, a government was created solely to protect the rights, liberties, and property of its citizens. Any government coercion beyond that necessary to secure those rights was forbidden, both through the Bill of Rights and the doctrine of strictly enumerated powers.

This reflected the founders' belief that democratic government could be as tyrannical as any King. Few Americans understand that all government action is inherently coercive. If nothing else, government action requires taxes. If taxes were freely paid, they wouldn't be called taxes, they'd be called donations.

If we intend to use the word freedom in an honest way, we should have the simple integrity to give it real meaning: Freedom is living without government coercion. So when a politician talks about freedom for this group or that, ask yourself whether he is advocating more government action or less.

The political left equates freedom with liberation from material wants, always via a large and benevolent government that exists to create equality on earth. To modern liberals, men are free only when the laws of economics and scarcity are suspended, the landlord is rebuffed, the doctor presents no bill, and groceries are given away.

But philosopher Ayn Rand (and many others before her) demolished this argument by explaining how such "freedom" for some is possible only when government takes freedoms away from others. In other words, government claims on the lives and property of those who are expected to provide housing, medical care, food, etc. for others are coercive-- and thus incompatible with freedom.

"Liberalism," which once stood for civil, political, and economic

liberties, has become a synonym for omnipotent coercive government.
The political right equates freedom with national greatness brought about through military strength. Like the left, modern conservatives favor an all-powerful central state-- but for militarism, corporatism, and faith-based welfarism.

Unlike the Taft-Goldwater conservatives of yesteryear, today's Republicans are eager to expand government spending, increase the federal police apparatus, and intervene militarily around the world. The last tenuous links between conservatives and support for smaller government have been severed. "Conservatism," which once meant respect for tradition and distrust of active government, has transformed into big-government utopian grandiosity.

Orwell certainly was right about the use of meaningless words in politics. If we hope to remain free, we must cut through the fog and attach concrete meanings to the words politicians use to deceive us.

We must reassert that America is a republic, not a democracy, and remind ourselves that the Constitution places limits on government that no majority can overrule. We must resist any use of the word "freedom" to describe state action. We must reject the current meaningless designations of "liberals" and "conservatives," in favor of an accurate term for both: statists.

Every politician on earth claims to support freedom. The problem is so few of them understand the simple meaning of the word.

Hypnosis and Abundance

Anyone out there had experiences with Hypnosis Therapy?

If you have, please join in the conversation by posting a comment. I'd LOVE to hear from others who have had experiences in the Hypnosis arena.

Last night, I received a copy of a "Hypnotic Journey" set of CD's for a Financial Abundance course by Wendi Friesen, CHT. I've done my first Hypnotic Journey just last night, and I feel wonderful today. Energetic, full of new-found focus and sharpness, and an overall sense of well-being. All from one journey where I chose the thing I wanted to "be" or "have" before I started the journey. This isn't officially part of the Financial Abundance Course she offers, but I'm excited to get into it.

I'm not sure I believe that any single person is "the best" hypnotist, but I'm not sure I found one who is so sharing and caring, and in tune with who they are and what they are doing for others. Since hypnosis is really just that wonderful state between awake and asleep, there's no harm that can be done (our brains and "higher selves" are smarter then that), and we'll never do anything in hypnosis that we wouldn't normally do (the trick is that we might not know we actually want to DO this or that!) ;-)

It's just another way to connect and truly experience the reality that we do indeed create what we focus on the most, and we just don't understand why our dominant intention is focusing on something we don't want, and of course it shows up!

Looking forward to hearing your hypno-therapy stories...

Replace Rumsfeld

Yes, it's time for him to go. Long overdue, in fact. I appreciate our troops and their families. Therefore, they deserve nothing less than our full support. And part of that full support is accountability. Our Secratary of Defense has none, as has been shown time and time again. So join me in signing this letter to President Bush demanding that he remove Rumsfeld from his post. Our military can't afford four more years of shifty leadership. They deserve better.

Dear Friend,

We must stop rewarding incompetence, start demanding accountability, and for the sake of the troops in Iraq, we must replace Donald Rumsfeld. Please join me in signing the following letter to President Bush on johnkerry.com.

Replace Rumsfeld

Mr. President,
I was surprised and disappointed that you told the Washington Post last week that no Bush administration official should be held accountable for our failures in Iraq. As the situation worsens and more American lives are lost and troops deployed to the region, it's time to stop rewarding incompetence and to start demanding accountability. For the sake of our men and women in uniform and their families here at home, I urge you to start by replacing Donald Rumsfeld. His record of failure and his inability to play it straight with the American people and our troops overseas make him unfit to serve as Secretary of Defense for one more day, never mind four more years.

If you care about restoring our credibility around the world and our credibility with our troops on the ground in Iraq, you've got to start by removing Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. That's why I am joining Senator John Kerry and hundreds of thousands of Americans in adding my name to the johnkerry.com petition calling for Rumsfeld's immediate removal from office.

I urge you to act without delay. We can't afford any more auto-penned letters of condolences and shifting stories about what kind of armor we have to protect our troops.

American soliders and their families are counting on you as Commander in Chief to hold those in charge of the war in Iraq to the highest standards.

Replace Rumsfeld

Thank you.

Comments encouraged

I encourage people to comment at my blog -- especially those who disagree with me. I think that debate is fun, and can be educational. After all, I'm not always right, and if I'm open-minded enough to listen to dissenting opinions, I might learn something.

However, that doesn't mean that name-calling, slurs, and juvenile comments are acceptable. If you disagree with me or others that comment about something, don't focus on the other person; instead, state what it is about their comments that you disagree with! Just as importantly, state why you disagree with what they are saying. Do you have a logical reason, or evidence to back up what you are saying?

DON'T call the other party names, or say things like "That's what all Liberals think" or "You're not as smart as you think you are" or "All Republicans are jerks". Focusing on the other person instead of the debate is what's known as an ad hominem argument.

You might want to read this short article about logical fallacies in arguments, and this short article about logical arguments.

Lastly, it probably goes without saying that spam will be deleted immediately. Thanks for visiting. Click here to go back to the main page.

That Which You Be

This was too good of a quote to not make a blog entry about it!

"You cannot be joyful without spreading your joy. You cannot be sad without spreading your sadness. You cannot be well without spreading your wellness. You cannot be sick without spreading your sickness. You cannot be poor without spreading your poverty. You cannot be prosperous without spreading your prosperity. Whatever you be, you exude to the ends of the Universe. The entire Universe benefits by that which you be."

Oshkosh Representative Underheim Cheats Voters of Representation

Editorial: Underheim must put voters ahead of his DPI dreams

Last year, Robert Welch kept his political honor intact by letting his state Senate term expire while making a bid for the more prestigious U.S. Senate.
The same cannot be said of our state Rep. Gregg Underheim. Last week, Underheim filed to run for state superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction. Rather than sit out the November election that returned him to office, or resign now, he will plan to stay in office and run for DPI. His decision will effectively cheat Oshkosh voters of representation.
A new legislative session started last week, making this a real slap in the face for voters. If Underheim wants to keep his honor intact, he will excuse himself from this talk of a bid for the DPI's top spot.
How quickly the man appears to have forgotten that his was a coveted seat.
Three other candidates wanted to represent District 54. They paid the price to "bid" for our "contract," spending hundreds of hours and dollars for the honor of representing the district.
If Underheim truly didn't want to be in office, he should have not run in November. Or, after winning, he should live with the results, give us representation for two years and let voters solve his career indecision in the next election. Now, if he wins the DPI seat after a Feb. 15 primary and April 5 election, Gov. Jim Doyle will have to declare an election to fill the seat.
There is more here than Underheim waking up with a new idea after the November elections. Ultra-conservatives in the Republican party asked the moderate Republican to politicize the non-partisan superintendent race.
It must have appealed because he has done that.
Underheim talked this past week about his priority of leading a discussion on the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights in the race. Education quality wasn't the priority.
Republicans with Underheim as the pit bull want to make life as difficult as possible for Elizabeth Burmaster, the present superintendent. That's one goal. It will please Republican party bosses in Madison to no end.
And, anyone who has doubts about Wisconsin as a political machine to be used for the convenience of ultra-conservative Republicans shouldn't have them now.
Oshkosh voters lose in a big way. The city needs a legislator to bring jobs here, preserve others from leaving, reform health care problems and work with community leaders. Instead, the city's representative will be diverted. Oshkosh will lack a legislator who gives 100 percent of his attention.
Underheim was elected to represent the people of Oshkosh in the Wisconsin Assembly through the end of the year 2006. He has a contract with the voters. He should honor it, because that's the issue here.
Underheim should do what is right, not expedient. He should resign from the race for state superintendent of DPI. His honor depends on him getting back to representing the people of Oshkosh -- and putting his dreams to use for the people who elected him.
The Final Thought: State Rep. Gregg Underheim should resign from the race for state superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction.

What's in your wallet?

Capital One has been sued by the Minnesota AG, and in my opinion, rightfully so. Enough of defective and deceptive credit card commercials. Get any credit card, and those neandrathals from the CO commercials will be chasing you. Maybe it was fitting to choose the Vikings as being representative of Interest Rates, because I think they're actually protraying a mirror image of themselves as bait and switch interest rate liars. And enough of the stupid "No" commercials while were at it. David Spade never has been funny. Snore.

The Way to Financial Freedom in 2005

Yesterday was the launch of the new compensation plan for a company I've been involved with for several years now. What they've done is create a way for every person who is willing to try something new, put in a few hours per week (as much as they want), and who has the drive to succeed, to have the financial freedom they desire and deserve. The SFI Marketing Group is the place, and becoming an affiliate with us is the way.

Today the new placement was revealed, and it was like having Second Christmas. I'm on my way in 2005. Make sure you check it out if you're so inclined, and want to have a taste of freedom in '05. You can also check out our all natural cleaning products on the right, one of the hundreds of products that can be marketed, used, and sold.

Happy New Year Entry

Here's a Happy New Year entry at my Powerful Intentions Blog. Read it and enjoy!! Deliberately create your New Year of Prosperity.

Creating 2005 With Powerful Intentions Part II

Creating 2005 with Powerful Intentions, the 2nd part...

The New Year has finally arrived. In many places, it was a somber celebration in honor of those lost in the Tsunami of December 26th, 2004. In deed, I also lit a candle in honor of those lost, missing, and those still alive and desperate for aid.

However, that being said, the beginning of 2005 is also a time to prepare for the year ahead. 2005 can be what you make it to be, indeed, it will be what you make it to be. The question is, will you create it consciously, or just let your judgments and beliefs that no longer serve you chart the course for 2005 and beyond? I know that I have non-deliberately created many years on this planet. I've allowed my life to be ruled by the subconscious beliefs, judgments and actions that do not serve me. Why? It's just the way we're wired, but it doesn't have to be the way things are.

In 2004, I've learned to respect others for their beliefs, whether I may agree or not. And when I don't agree, I've started to ask myself some questions...
Why don't I agree? What is it about me that makes me behave in such a manner towards another's beliefs?
Once I find the answer to those questions, I can then better work with myself to find the judgment, what may have caused that judgment to exist, and move forward to drop my judgments and simply say "They are now here." and "I am now here." No matter what religious beliefs one may have, I haven't found one yet that says "judge those you do not agree with." It's never been up to us to pass judgment, and to this day I still cannot understand what's so hard to get that we continue to judge. Constantly. We see a bumper sticker. Judge. We see behavior. Judge. We overhear a conversation. Judge. And the most common of all...we look at someone. Judge.

My intentions for 2005 are simple, and brought about by an enlightening e-mail I received from Linda Miller, a person I've gotten to learn a bit about at Powerful Intentions. My intentions are a derivitive of hers, and for more about Linda, visit her Spiritual Entrepreneur Forum. It's an enlightening place.

Intentions for Two Thousand and Five

1. I intend to set my Intentions.
2. I intend to learn about Segment Intending, and then intend to use Segment Intending to deliberately create each segment of my day.
3. I intend to easily and effortlessly maintain clarity about my activities and my beliefs and to eliminate those activities and beliefs that no longer serve me.
4. I intend to continue to set my Intentions throughout 2005.
5. I intend to attract to me those people for whom I may offer a resource that will assist them to understand and know that all is truly in perfect and divine order.
6. I intend to attract to me only business partners who are excited about the products and services that I offer, who are serious about creating wealth and prosperity, and who are ready to get started.

These Powerful Intentions will serve me to create the 2005 I desire. You can read Daniel's Blog at Powerful Intentions to get continuous updates on Intention Setting, and use my experiences as a tool to create your own experiences in 2005 and beyond. I'll always be open to feedback and comments on Daniel's Powerful Intentions and my blog entries.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year.

It's what you desire and create it to be.

How freeing is that?
